Spring Tide by KaiCarpenter Spring Tide by KaiCarpenter
This had been kicking across my desk for months, waiting to get finished - finally, it is.

Just in case there were like two people out there not convinced that a) I like mermaids, and b) I have extensive red-haired influence, here ya go.

gouache

Print available at www.etsy.com/shop/StudioWendig… !

I second this! I've never seen anyone use gouache this way. It's just lovely.

influenced by Jc Leyendecker at all? those faces look almost identical to one of his works.

I love that there's a story here in this astoundingly beautiful artwork. You have told it flawlessly, with skill and romance. It feels like a fairytale, but I can also see the slick warmth of her skin and scales, the rough damp of the sea wall and the sodden fabric of the boy's shirt. In other words: oh, *so* well done! <3
